Restaurant List

Having worked in the world of food and beverage for many years, I am always on the look out for great restaurants. Alexandria’s culinary scene has come a long way since I moved here in 1996. Now you don’t have to drive to Arlington or DC to find locally owned and operated restaurants offering an array of food experiences.  Here are some of my favorites:

Date Night/Special Occasion
Belgian high-end cuisine
Restaurant Eve
Probably my favorite restaurant in Alexandria.  Farm to table food with a nod to Ireland
Beautifully prepared American cuisine.  Hopping bar scene

Casual Dinner or Lunch
Brabo Tasting Room
More casual than Brabo.  Great for lunch or dinner.  The place to order mussels
Bread and Water
Wonderful breads and pastries.  Lunch and brunch are always a treat
Caphe Banh Mi

Cheese based menu and so much more.  Great wine selection
The best fish and chips with seven housemade sauces…try the Kitty O’Shea!
Evening Star
Del Ray eatery with consistently good food and two fun bar lounges. See No.9 Lounge below
Fontaine Caffe and Creperie
Very French café with sweet and savory crepes.
Grape and Bean
